New dashboard across all APPG DS websites
All APPG DS websites have today been updated with a brand new dashboard for admins and editors. The new dashboard represents a significant step forward in making your APPG website simpler, faster and more intuitive to manage.
The redesigned dashboard puts the most common tasks immediately in front of the user. Events, news articles, people and pages can all be added directly from the opening screen, reducing the number of clicks needed to keep a website up to date. A prominent “Create new” button provides another quick route to publishing content, while the new search facility makes it easier to find existing material.
Day-to-day management is clearer too. Recently edited content is displayed prominently, together with its type, publication status and last update date. Upcoming events, newsletter subscribers and editor accounts can all be seen at a glance, giving secretariats and staffers a much better overview of their website without having to navigate between different sections.
The new interface also makes the distinction between content and website administration much clearer. News, events, people and pages sit together, while homepage settings, menus, newsletters, design settings and editors have their own dedicated controls. This should make the system considerably easier for occasional users who may only log in when there is a meeting, report or announcement to publish.
Importantly, the improvements are not simply cosmetic. The control panel has been designed around the practical tasks involved in running an APPG website, with useful prompts such as the site setup checklist helping administrators spot anything they have yet to complete.
The result is a cleaner and more capable publishing environment that feels much closer to a modern professional content management system, while retaining the simplicity needed by busy APPG officers and secretariats. It is a substantial upgrade that should make maintaining an active, accurate and useful APPG website considerably less time-consuming.
