Andrew Murrison to co-chair National Trust APPG

am

Conservative MP Andrew Murrison will co-chair the new APPG for the National Trust. Murrison, whose South Wiltshire constituency includes one of the Trust's most well-known properties, Stourhead, has in the past criticised the NT for taking a political stance, rather than remaining neutral.

Commenting on his website, Murrison says, "The Trust is a custodian of some of our most precious national treasures, landlord for hundreds of farmers, tenants, and businesses, and a very big employer.

"It has a huge membership, thousands of volunteers and enormous financial resources. Particularly since it is established by statute, it is important that it is properly scrutinized especially given recent controversies around it strategic direction. I hope this new group will help to do that."
